LaLa's Top Tips: Quick and Easy Ways to Correct Common Make-up Mistakes!

Credit: She Knows
We've all been there before - you're doing your makeup as always, maybe you're in a rush, then BAM! You make a mistake, try to correct it but end up ruining it and you think you have to start all over again (or risk leaving the house looking like a hot mess...!) This has happened to me too many times before, but thankfully, I have now mastered the art of correcting mistakes quickly, and I've decided to share a few of my tips with you!
Read on to find out how I turn a messy situation into polished perfection!

Cakey Undereye Concealer?
If you have accidentally applied too much concealer in an attempt to hide the evidence of a super late night, don't reach for the powder - adding more will make it look worse and emphasize any fine lines you may have. You also don't need to reach for the makeup remover; instead, blend the concealer more by patting lightly (NEVER drag the skin around your eyes - hello wrinkles!) with your ring finger or a Beauty Blender (or damp makeup sponge).

After you have blended the concealer, pat a tiny amount of your eye cream on top. This will hide the cakey-ness while also making your under-eyes look brighter by giving them a more dewy appearance. I sometimes also love patting a small amount of Smashbox's Under Eye Hydrating Primer (full review HERE) as well, instead of my eye cream.

Too much Bronzer?
Did you get a bit carried away with your bronzer and end up with a face that resembles Fanta? Did you really want a beautiful sun-kissed glow to your skin instead? Don't worry, just blend your usual powder on top of the bronzer to tone down the orangey-ness! My favorite powders to use are Chanel Loose Powder, Maybelline Fit Me! powder and Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Translucent Blotting Powder

This tip also works perfectly if you have applied too much blush - just make sure you use your powder brush and NOT the one you just used to apply your blush or bronzer!

Blob of Mascara Ruining your Makeup?
This has happened to everyone - especially me on several occasions when I'm in a rush! You accidentally get mascara on the side of your nose, cheek or on your eyelid and your makeup is ruined! Fear not! While your initial reaction is to wipe it off immediately or blend it with your brush or finger - DON'T!!! This will only make it WORSE! Instead, ignore it. Yup, you read that right - IGNORE IT! Continue applying your mascara/makeup and wait for the smudge to dry. Then you can either flick it off with your nail (if it's a big, thick glob) or blend it with your foundation/powder/eyeshadow brush and it will disappear!

If you try to do this while it's still wet, you will make the smudge worse while also getting mascara on your brush, and ruining your makeup even more!

Smudged Lipstick?
This tip is especially useful for red and dark-coloured lipsticks, which are usually less forgiving and more likely to stain your skin slightly. Just take your concealer and a precise, flat concealer brush and trace around the edge of your lips carefully. Then gently blend the concealer and dust lightly with powder.

Also, place a tissue over your lips, take some face powder on your powder brush and lightly pat it onto the tissue over your lips. The powder will sink through the tissue onto your lips, setting the lipstick (and concealer) while also giving the lipstick a slightly more matte effect. This will also help your lipstick stay put for longer and prevent smudging!

    1. Thank you! I am the same, and as I am so pale, even a tiny bit of extra bronzer can look too much! Hehehe xoxo
